G Adventures has introduced a new tailor-made travel style citing increased demand for personalised experiences.
The operator’s 11 TailorMade destinations are available to book immediately, with sample itineraries leading in from £719pp.
The launch comes after G last December surveyed more than 450 of its agent panel members, with 84% reporting an increase in requests for tailor-made travel and private tours.
Some 44% said it was “in high demand”, while 40% said this demand had risen year-on-year.
G Adventures founder Bruce Poon Tip said the research had highlighted a gap in the market, particularly affordable, mid-market travel.
“The flexibility of TailorMade means travellers can combine experiential travel with customisation,” he said.
“While we’ve recognised an opportunity in the mid-range market, we’ll also be able to cater to higher-end tastes in transport, meals and accommodation.”
Poon Tip added all TailorMade trips would bear the hallmarks of G’s socially responsible travel ethos, with social enterprise projects available as an option on all 11 launch destinations.
These are Botswana, Cambodia, Costa Rica, Peru, Ecuador (including Galapagos), India, Laos, South Africa, Thailand, Vietnam and Zimbabwe.
G has created a number of sample itineraries for each destination to inspire customers to customise.
Jeff Russill, G Adventures senior vice-president, marketing and product, said its TailorMade trips tap into the public’s growing interest in being able to “choose your own adventure”, citing Netflix show Black Mirror’s recent Bandersnatch episode.
“Until now, we have only been able to provide our private group adventure travellers with a duplicate of an existing G Adventures itinerary, departing on their chosen date,” he added.
“We’re excited to innovate in this space to bring customised adventure and experiential travel to more people.”
The operator is expanding its sales team to drive TailorMade sales and will assign specialists to work with travel agents and customers to design their ideal itineraries.
Options will include bespoke transport, accommodation, meals, activities, pace of travel and budget.
Travellers can opt to select a sample itinerary and depart on their own date, amend a sample itinerary, or create a whole new itinerary with the help of a private travel consultant.
TailorMade tours are available for solo travellers or groups of nearly any size, with options for couples, families, friends and honeymooners.
G’s lead-in price is based on two travelling, double occupancy, on a seven-day TailorMade Bangkok to Chiang Mai Express sample itinerary.
G Adventures is the world's largest small-group adventure travel company, offering more than 700 tours in 100 different countries, and service levels to meet all tastes, ages and budgets.
