Two tourists are reported to have been killed and four injured after a knifeman ran amok in the Egyptian resort of Hurghada.
All those killed and injured were female, according to reports. The two who were fatally wounded were from Ukraine. Reports say the attacker swam to a hotel from a nearby public beach and carried out the assault.
Hurghada originally developed as a scuba diving destination. In January, three tourists were wounded in an attack at the resort’s Bella Vista hotel.
Hurghada is situated across the Red Sea from Sharm el Sheikh, which has been the target of several terrorist attacks. The FCO advises against all but essential travel by air to Sharm following the bombing of a Russian airliner in 2015, but does not advise against visiting Sharm itself or Hurghada.
