A father-of-four faces prison after allegedly trying to bite his partner during a drunken argument onboard an easyJet flight to Greece.
David Briggs, 35, who was also also accused of verbally abusing his girlfriend Samantha Davies during the journey from Zante to the UK, will be sentenced at a later date after a hearing at North Somerset Magistrates’ Court.
The court heard that Davies had slapped Briggs, sparking the row which took place on July 13.
When cabin crew intervened, Briggs is accused of swearing at staff and another passenger.
Davies and other nearby passengers were so afraid they had to be moved away from the Pontypridd labourer, the Mail Online reports.
Following the incident, the easyJet pilot radioed ahead to police, who met the aircraft when it landed at Bristol airport and arrested Briggs.
Briggs’ behaviour was in breach of a two-year suspended sentence imposed at Cardiff Crown Court which also included an alcohol treatment order.
He pleaded guilty to being drunk onboard the aircraft but denied trying to bite Davies and ignoring staff telling him to sit down.
Lucy Coleman, prosecuting, said: “The defendant’s partner had slapped him around the face and the defendant was being abusive back.
“The defendant was leaning over and trying to bite the cheek of his girlfriend.
“When told to stop, he said ‘whatever, f*** off’.”
Defending, Nigel Yeo said: “He is deeply ashamed of his behaviour and would like to apologise to the flight attendants and other passengers given the chance.
“It seems airports are keen to ply people with alcohol.
“He also asked if he could bring his own alcohol onboard and was told there would be no difficulty with that.”
Speaking at the hearing, Briggs said he was “ashamed of his behaviour”.
