What change would you like to see in travel to create a more sustainable and responsible sector? Our soapbox speakers share their visions during these engaging, bite-sized sessions shining a spotlight on the big ideas the industry needs to be exploring. Please note, attendees will take part in two of the three Soapboxes – these will be allocated upon registration on the day. |
Plotting a pathway to regenerative tourism practices
Let’s discuss practices we should be normalising today, so that they become default in the next five years. Transitioning tourism as a force for good requires multiple changes at scale, however there are practices and considerations that are possible and impactful today. The more tourism stakeholders promote and practice these, the sooner we can see the change and move to solving the next set of challenges. This session will offer practical examples of the changes that can have significant impact, as well as invite attendees to reframe some of the decisions that they may already be making through the lens of regenerative tourism principles.
How tour operators can be part of the solution to overtourism
Hear how tour operators can play an important part in actively mitigating overtourism by promoting under-visited destinations, redesigning tours to avoid overcrowded hotspots, and fostering community tourism. A concern for team members, customers, and the destinations themselves, Inside Travel Group has used concepts, such as carrying capacity and social license to operate to promote alternative destinations that are ready and wanting to have more visitors.
Why the ‘S’ in ESG matters - and what to do about it
Social sustainability continues to lag behind across the industry with much confusion around what it means and how to meaningfully implement and measure it. Drawing on extensive industry experience, consultancy and academic work, this session demystifies the “S” in ESG and shares clear guidance and actions that are not only the right things to do for responsible businesses, but also make business sense.
12:25-12:45 – Inspiring positive change: why diversity matters in sustainable travel |
| How can we change the sustainability space to become more inclusive to those from different ethnic backgrounds and break down barriers to help companies connect with disengaged communities? Learn what more needs to be done to make those from underrepresented social groups feel they belong and be inspired to get more involved in ESG work plus how you can play an important role in your own business. |

Drawing from decades of experience as an industry trailblazer, Jo makes the case for travel as a force for empathy, representation and human connection – if companies choose to show up and act with purpose. |

Real people, real travel: why inclusion needs a rethink
Is inclusion in travel as meaningful and as impactful as it should be? This session invites the industry to move beyond surface-level gestures and start designing travel that actually works for people. Using halal tourism as its lens, this talk explores how culture, comfort, and lifestyle needs are too often overlooked in mainstream offerings and what thoughtful, practical design could look like instead. Expect honest insights, useful takeaways, and a few uncomfortable truths all aimed at helping travel become smarter, better, and fairer for everyone.
LGBTQIA+ equals growth
The future of DEI is growth. Brands and businesses who turn away from inclusion will face a reckoning but those who support LGBTQIA+ customers can thrive. The travel industry is historically positioned to take advantage of this opportunity – let’s discuss how to seize it.
Conscious guest inclusivity: how to embrace and thrive in the most dynamic emerging market in decades
With perhaps the most compelling business case our industry has seen in decades, this talk examines why only 5% of organisations have positive strategies for change that are designed to wow and delight clients with apparent and non-apparent disabilities – that’s one in six of the world’s population – a $13 trillion market. Let’s explore how a paradigm shift in thinking away from the narrow constructs and limited impacts of ‘accessibility’, and simple steps we can take today, will equip and empower any organisation to attract and serve with confidence and excellence, a wholly new, loyal and valuable, client community.
16:15-16:45 – Inspiring positive change: using business as a force for good |
