Business model

Explorer Franchise by Hays Travel is a homeworking travel franchise that lets individuals who are new to travel or experienced, run their own travel business from home, backed by the UK’s largest independent travel agency. Franchisees can either trade under the Explorer Travel brand or run their business using their own independent brand, while still accessing Hays Travel’s systems, supplier agreements, training and ongoing support.

Costs

We have two models for New to Travel, whether an agent wants to work under Explorer Travel's branding, or set up their own brand:
Option 1) Explorer Travel Holidays branding, set-up fee of £5,995 plus VAT, with monthly fees of £99 per month. 
2) Own branding, set-up fee of £11,995 plus VAT with monthly fees of £99 per month. 
We also have a model for Experienced agents, who want to operate with their own branding: set-up fee of £2,995 plus VAT, and monthly fees of £99 per month. 
No credit card recharges or call charges. A personalised website is included, and iSell search and book software. Out-of-office support is included and access to our business development support team.

Commission structure

This model is a self generated business (i.e. no leads are provided). Explorer Holidays Model: Commission is payable at 50% of the total commission earned by the tour operator. Pro Model (own branding): Commission is payable at 70% of the total commission earned by the tour operator. Experienced Model (own branding): Commission is payable at 70% of the total commission earned by the tour operator. Commission is payable the month after travel. Contract terms will apply upon termination.

Licenses and memberships

Our franchisees act as agent on behalf of Explorer Franchise by Hays Travel Limited, which is an Abta member and an Atol holder. Explorer Franchise by Hays Travel works with more than 300 tour operators and partners, and has access to Hays Travel's own Atol-protected tour operator called Vista. 

Training and support

Both Experienced and New to Travel Models Induction is five days, These are held virtually with our Business Development Coach. Training includes Hays Travel working practices, regulations, systems, documentation, social media & marketing, and more.
