Business model
Hays Travel Homeworking offers new to travel and experienced travel professionals the opportunity to run their own independent travel business with the backing of the UK’s largest independent travel agent. Homeworkers benefit from flexible working, high commission levels, award-winning training, marketing support, and access to competitive supplier deals, enabling them to deliver exceptional, personalised travel experiences to their clients. This is self employed, and working from home trading under your own name @ Hays Travel.
Costs
Experienced model: Joining fee of £295 plus VAT, and monthly fees of £65 per month.
New to Travel model: joining fee of £8,000 plus VAT (payment plans are available) and a non-refundable deposit of £2,400 payable at time of joining, but no monthly fees for your first 12 months (then £65 per month).
We don't charge our agents for credit card recharges or calls. All models include an Annual Marketing Fund and Digital Marketing Allowance (eg Facebook Boosts). A personalised website, laptop and telephony are included. We also offer out of hours support, and access to our business development support team and homeworker operations head office team.
Commission structure
This model is a self-generated business (i.e. no leads are provided). Commission is payable at 60% of the total commission earned by the Tour Operator. Commission is payable 50% the month after booking and 50% the month after travel. The opportunity to earn more commission is available based on performance. Contract terms will apply upon termination.
Licenses and memberships
Our homeworkers act as agent on behalf of Hays Travel Limited who are Abta members and have an Atol. Hays Travel work with over 300 Tour Operators and Partners and have access to their own Atol-protected tour operator called Vista.
Training and support
Our Experienced Model Induction is five days; our New to Travel Model induction is three weeks. Both are held virtually, with our Learning & Development Team. A Laptop will be provided. Training includes Hays Travel working practices, regulations, systems, documentation, social media and marketing and more. Our New to Travel Academy offers a 12-month training programme plus Admin assist.
