Business model: Self-employed, commission-only homeworkers, generating their own leads via their own customer base. Agents can sell under our Travology Travel brand or their own. They have their own webpage (Travology Travel-branded). The agent will always own their client base, and if they choose to leave they can pay their fee until last customer has travelled or we can look after their customer, and the booking will be paid at a lower commission split.

Costs: £125 joining fee for experienced agents. £349 joining fee for those with less than two years as a travel agent on the high street or less than three years as a homeworker, or who’ve worked within travel in another sector. £849 joining fee for those entirely new to travel, with one-to-one training provided. Then a monthly fee of £49. Travology pays the first £5500 card fees; anything over this would be deducted from commission.

Commission structure: New to travel: 60% first year. Under 9% profit 65%. Over 9% profit 75%. Commission is paid before the 5th of the month of travel, if not the end of the month before travel.

Licenses and memberships: We are a member of PTS, so have the ability to be more independent and can add smaller operators and brands. We have access to all the major tour operators and suppliers.

Training and support: Training differs according to joining option. Experienced agents receive an induction, and then support with first initial bookings as they get used to systems. For those with limited travel experience, or new to travel, training also includes social media marketing. We offer the Travology Hub, a Whatsapp group and Facebook group for support and company updates. System videos and supplier info is available on the Hub. We host Lunch & Learns around the country with suppliers. We do basic admin such as sending confirmations, balance chasing and sending travel doc (though the homeworker is always the point of contact for their customer).
