Long (pictured) stood down from his role in February after 32 years ensuring First Choice, and later Tui Group, remained two of the most successful businesses in the European travel market.
ITT chairman Steven Freudmann said he could think of “few people better placed to reflect on the progress of the industry and of ITT”. “We are delighted that one of the giants of the industry over the last few decades will be joining us at the event,” he added.
Freudmann said Long was the only person to have received ITT’s Odyssey Award twice.
The anniversary party will include a welcome reception, three-course dinner and entertainment from swing band Jack Pack.
The destination for the ITT’s 2017 conference will also be revealed, while this year’s Odyssey Award will be presented to Southall Travel founder Kuljinder Bahia.
Freudmann said Qatar Airways had specifically requested to present the award to Bahia, with senior vice-president Europe Jonathan Harding handing out the honour on the night.
The chosen charity for the event will be Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.
A group of ITT members have just returned from the Zambezi Challenge – rafting down the crocodile-filled river – to raise money for the cause. During the anniversary party further money will also be raised for Alder Hey, with a patient making a special appearance.
