MSC Cruises has revealed new onboard features for upcoming MSC Bellissima which launches in Southampton in 100 days.
Bellissima, the second ship in MSC’s Meraviglia class, will spend its inaugural season in the Mediterranean before moving to the Emirates for winter 2019-2020.
Able to accommodate 5,686 guests and at a gross tonnage of 171,598, Bellissima will be the biggest ship to be named in Southampton.
The ship will feature the line’s digital cruise assistant Zoe and a new tapas restaurant HOLA! Tapas Bar from Michelin-starred chef Ramon Freixa.
Guests on board MSC Bellissima will be the first to experience Zoe, available in seven languages, and designed to answer passenger’s most commonly asked onboard questions “in the comfort of their cabin”.
The platform is a voice-enabled Artificial Intelligence device fitted in every cabin and has been custom designed for the cruise experience in partnership with Harman International.
The line said HOLA! Tapas Bar, located on Deck 6, will offer “a wonderful celebration of the Mediterranean way of life”.
Two new Cirque du Soleil shows, created exclusively for MSC Cruises passengers, will also be performed on Bellissima.
Cirque du Soleil will also see a further four new shows created for sister ships MSC Grandiosa, launching November 2019 and MSC Virtuosa launching in 2020.
From a new Grand Canyon theme for its aqua park (pictured above) with three water slides, to a full-size bowling alley, F1 simulator and XD cinema, MSC said Bellissmia would feature “fun and interactive entertainment for guests of all ages”.
The ship will also boast six new West End-style shows in its 985-seat theatre.
Antonio Paradiso, managing director for MSC Cruises UK & Ireland said: “We are having three full days of celebrations in Southampton and we look forward to sharing this landmark moment with media, consumers, the city of Southampton and our travel agents, who we’d like to thank for their continued support of our business.
“The event, as always, promises to be a star-studded, glittering affair with over 5,000 people attending over the three day period from more than 20 countries around the world.
“We have so much still to announce over the next few months from the celebrity acts that are performing at the ceremony to the concepts and show names for the new Cirque du Soleil shows.”
