Travel folk flocked to the Solent last week for the annual Family Holiday Association Regatta.
The event, hosted by Sunsail, raised more than £9,000 for the charity.
While in its sixth consecutive year, this was the first where the Family Holiday Association and Abta LifeLine, two of the industry’s main charities, joined forces to host the event.
The teams that took part on the day were representing Abta Insurance Partners, Abta Legal Partners, Der Touristik UK, the Family Holiday Association, First Rate Exchange Services, Flagship Consulting, In2Action, InteleTravel, Sparkler, Travel & General Insurance Services and the Tui UK Board.
The winners of the coveted trophy were Sparkler, with InteleTravel claiming second place and In2Action coming in third.
Derek Jones, ambassador of the Family Holiday Association and chair of Abta LifeLine, said: “Thank you to all the teams that took part in an excellent day’s sailing and for supporting two amazing travel industry charities.
“Abta LifeLine supports people in our community in their time of need, and FHA gives the most disadvantaged families a UK break helping build those special memories we all take for granted.”
Michelle Shepherd, events manager at the Family Holiday Association, added: “With Sunsail having recently announced a £3.75 million investment in 15 new Sun Odyssey 410s for 2020, there is already an extra level of excitement about next year. Our aim is to fill all 15 boats and boost the funds for both charities even further.
“Our thanks go to the hosts, Sunsail, and everybody who contributed to a hugely successful event.”
