British Airways is to use one of its new 787-9 Dreamliners on the Heathrow to Shanghai route.
The airline will also add an extra three flights a week to the Chinese city from February 20 next year.
The new Boeing aircraft currently serves Abu Dhabi, Muscat, Delhi and Kuala Lumpur and will operate flights to Austin from February 5 and San Jose from May 4, 2016. Flights to Shanghai on the new aircraft will begin next summer.
Throughout 2016 the carrier will also start using the jet on flights to: Newark, Narita, Jeddah, Houston, Mumbai, Boston and Dubai with exact dates being announced in due course.
The 787-9 also features a new first-class cabin with eight seats in comparison to the 14 seats available on other British Airways long-haul aircraft.
