Royal Caribbean International has announced a new two-year sponsorship deal with Durham County Cricket Club.
The extended partnership was revealed as part of a press conference to announce that England cricketing legend Ian Botham has been appointed as the club’s new chairman.
Royal Caribbean has been sponsoring Durham since 2015 and the new upgraded deal will see the cruise line become the club’s official travel partner, as well as having advertising around the club’s home ground and on its shirts.
Ben Bouldin, managing director for the UK and Ireland at Royal Caribbean said: "We are passionate about involvement in our local communities and are proud to be partnering with Durham CCC as one of the best cricket clubs in the country.
Royal Caribbean will also have a lounge at Durham’s ground, the Emirates Riverside stadium in Chester-le-Street, which will be used to train agents on its products as well as hosting events.
“We are also delighted to be able to offer our north of England travel agent partners a training space at Durham CCC’s world-class facilities,” added Bouldin.
“We look forward to using the lounge to provide agents with the tools they need to confidently sell our holidays to new and existing customers.”
Botham added: “Royal Caribbean is a valued partner of the club and this new agreement takes our relationship to another level. They have built a reputation for innovation and we are very pleased to be associated with them.”
