Now entering its ninth year, the Travel Marketing Awards shortlist in 2017 features more than 140 companies battling it out for awards at the March 14 ceremony. By Jennifer Morris.
The shortlist for the ninth Travel Marketing Awards has been drawn up.
More than 140 travel companies and media, marketing and PR agencies are now in the running for gongs at the awards ceremony on March 14.
The awards, for which TTG Media is a media partner, are designed to reflect the aims of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Travel Group (CIM Travel Group) in promoting, enhancing and facilitating best practice within travel marketing.
Each year advertising agencies, in-house teams, design consultancies, digital agencies, PR companies, integrated agencies and media companies have their work judged by an independent panel of marketing and travel industry professionals.
Keith Cartwright, chairman of CIM Travel Group, said: “Last year was a remarkable year for travel and tourism, with the demands placed on marketing departments and agencies never higher.
“I’m delighted to say that the awards received the largest amount of entries ever, with the judges overwhelmed by the excellent standard of this year’s submissions.
“The scene is set for a magnificent awards night in March when the most original, creative, innovative and best- performing advertising, marketing and digital campaigns over the past year will be recognised. We’re looking forward to hosting a fantastic event for all.”
Marketing panel chair Andrew Shelton, Cheapflights managing director, added: “This year’s entries were the strongest demonstration we’ve seen of the marketing excellence that exists in our industry.
“It’s vital that such talent is recognised and that this work becomes the benchmark to which we – and marketeers in other sectors – aspire.
“We also found it inspiring and exciting to see that innovation, from ideation to execution and measurement, is alive and well in travel marketing – and believe that in recognising the best examples of it, we are encouraging others to be just as brave.”

There is also a Tomorrow’s Travel Marketing Leader award to honour the brightest travel marketing professional of the future. Last year the award was won by Travelzoo’s Emily Heath. The accolade builds on the success of the TTG 30 Under 30, and invites young travel marketing professionals from across the sector to enter by Friday February 3. Nominees must be under the age of 30 and consider themselves to be a travel marketing leader of the future. They can also be nominated by a colleague.
