York-based travel agency business Amigo Holidays has officially launched its new homeworking division, The Library, and is seeking recruits.
The firm, part of the umbrella Quartz Travel Group, said it had spent the past 12 months since announcing the venture reviewing other homeworking offerings on the market.
As well as agents being free to work from home as they wish, The Library offers them space in Amigo Holidays’ new Blossom Street premises as well as the Quartz Travel headquarters in Heworth Road.
The Blossom Street office, which can accommodate more than 25 staff, is constructed from components of a Airbus A320 aircraft.
The homeworking arm, which launched just before Christmas, aims to provide homeworkers the opportunity to meet clients in its “state of the art” offices as well as the “camaraderie” of sitting with a team.
The Library is offering 65% commission, a “low sign-up fee” and there is no monthly charge.
There is also a virtual assistant on hand 24/7 – Auntie Dolly – and training is provided along with a website, social media guidance and a personalised business plan.
Quartz Travel Group general manager, Kerry-Louise Lakey, said: “It can be difficult knowing what to do when you start out on your own as a homeworker, especially if there is an emergency.
“We are aiming to get 28 people on the books first of all, and grow from there. We already have interviews lined up for the first week of January.
“The idea for The Library came from observing that often our own staff wanted to take on more hours, but couldn’t because of other commitments.”
The group is seeking a minimum of two years’ travel experience.
