Three British tourists were killed in a helicopter crash in the Grand Canyon over the weekend.
Becky Dobson, 27, Jason Hill, 32, and Stuart Hill, 30, died in Saturday’s crash, the Hualapai Police said, BBC News reports.
The pilot and three other Britons were injured when the tourist helicopter came down at about 5.20pm local time. It is not yet clear what caused the crash.
The survivors were rescued at 2pm local time on Sunday and flown to University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, a statement said. High winds had hampered the rescue effot, according to reports.
In a statement, Brenda Halvorson, the chief executive of the helicopter company involved - Papillon Airways - said the company extended its heartfelt sympathy to the families of the dead and injured.
A UK Foreign Office spokesperson told the BBC: “We are providing support to the families of six British visitors involved in a helicopter accident at the Grand Canyon on February 10, and we are in close contact with the US emergency services.”
