Southwest Florida International Airport is approximately 30 minutes from Fort Myers Beach and offers good connections to the UK via US and Canadian airports. Fort Myers is roughly equidistant from Tampa and Miami (approximately two hours’ drive), and about three hours from Orlando.

Following damage from Hurricane Ian in September 2023, the destination has rebounded and currently has over 77% available rooms versus before the storm. Properties are opening at a fast pace. The latest offerings include Margaritaville on Fort Myers Beach, with a huge outdoor heated pool. Other hotels open include Pink Shell, Diamond Head, and Lover’s Key on Fort Myers Beach, along with Sanibel Inn and Tween Waters on Sanibel and Captiva islands. Further inland, visitors can stay at various hotels including the Luminary Hotel in Fort Myers, Hyatt Regency Coconut Point in Estero and the Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village.

Fort Myers is a year-round sunny destination. The beaches are quiet most of the time, and sea turtle hatching season runs from May to the end of October. The Island Hopper Songwriter Festival will take place from 20-29 September 2024 and is not to be missed.
