What is the best way to get to your destination?
Visitors can fly directly from the UK and Ireland into Orlando International airport and it is then around an hour’s drive to Florida’s Atlantic east coast and Daytona Beach. Alternatively, they can fly directly into Daytona International airport via the US. This airport is just a few minutes’ drive from the centre of Daytona Beach.
What are the must-see sights or must-do activities?
Daytona Beach’s stunning 23-mile-long pristine stretch of white-sand beach offers a wonderful oceanside world of fun. Find your own spot of paradise to set up your towel along the area’s spacious beaches or enjoy many beach activities to keep the whole family occupied. Cycling along the hard-packed sand is a wonderful way to explore the coastline. Alternatively, enjoy a water-based activity like fishing, boating, surfing, paddleboarding or kayaking.
The area offers so much more besides the beautiful beach to fulfil an array of interests though, from motor racing, arts and culture to family attractions complimented by a wonderful selection of dining options. Explore the world-famous Daytona International Speedway, the Museum of Arts and Sciences, the Cici & Hyatt Brown Museum of Art and dozens of other museums and galleries, as well as the iconic Daytona Beach Boardwalk & Pier.
Family attractions include Daytona Lagoon, which offers everything from thrill slides and chill pools to go-karts and laser tag, or head south to explore Ponce Inlet, a naturally beautiful area that is home to Florida’s tallest lighthouse – which visitors can climb to the top for spectacular 360-degree views of the beach and inlet. Visit the Marine Science Center to see sea turtles up-close at the rehabilitation facility and stroke stingrays, or visit their new Raptor Education and Conservation Exhibit, which is dedicated to raptors that, due to injuries, cannot be returned to the wild. Manatees and dolphins can be seen by climbing aboard an eco-cruise for a scenic excursion.
New attractions in the area include the Daytona Aquarium and Rainforest Adventure and The Riverfront Esplanade, a beautiful outdoor space to enjoy complete with walking trails; a creek; waterfalls; a great assortment of flowers, plants and trees; and even a splash pad for the kids.
What are the accommodation options?
With more than 12,000 hotel rooms in the area, there is a wide variety of accommodation in the area, to suit all tastes and budgets – and many properties are located on the beachfront. Popular choices include The Daytona Grande, the Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach, Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront, the Holiday Inn Daytona Beach Oceanfront, Hyatt Place Daytona Beach Oceanfront, Best Western Aku Tiki Inn and The Max Beach Resort. Opening in 2024 is the Renaissance by Marriott Daytona Beach Oceanfront. There are also holiday homes and luxury condos available in the area through companies such as Salty Dog Vacations.
When should clients visit?
Florida is a year-round destination with a mild climate throughout the year. The summer months can be hot so visitors might want to visit during the slightly cooler months.
How long should clients stay?
We recommend that visitors stay in the area for at least three nights to take in the beach and variety of attractions, but it is easy to stay longer! Daytona Beach is one of the closest twin-centre destinations to Orlando, so is the ideal beach add on.
