What is the best way to get to your destination?
UK holidaymakers can fly directly to the Space Coast’s Melbourne Orlando International airport from Gatwick, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Bristol, Newcastle and Belfast with Tui. Alternatively, there is also a non-stop connection to Orlando International airport – a 45-minute drive to the Space Coast. Irish holidaymakers can fly directly to Orlando International airport four times weekly with Aer Lingus from Dublin.
What are the must-see sights or must-do activities?
The Space Coast Launches app lists upcoming rocket launches and includes a map of the best viewing locations, a compass and launch live feeds. The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, meanwhile, will take guests of all ages through the USA’s journey to the stars.
The Space Coast also boasts 72 miles of coastline with uncrowded sandy beaches backed by rolling dunes. Busier beaches include Cocoa Beach, Indian Harbour Beach and Indialantic, while less crowded beaches include the Canaveral National Seashore, Patrick Space Force Base area and Melbourne Beach.
The Space Coast’s consistent waves, great weather and 72 miles of publicly-accessible shoreline make for perfect surfing conditions, too. There are surf schools available for individuals and groups, and guests can even learn from pro surfer Todd Holland.
Last but not least, navigate the Indian River Lagoon. Families can hop on an eco-tour of this biodiverse estuary for a relaxed guided experience or take a kayak to explore mangrove tunnels. Every year between June and October clients can book a bioluminescence tour to experience an explosion of green-blue light when the water is touched.
What are the accommodation options?
Several new extended stay options have opened like TownePlace Suites by Marriott and Springhill Suites. Others have rooftop lounges such as Hotel Melby and Courtyard by Marriott Kennedy Space Center. More new hotels are on the way including Compass by Margaritaville, Westin and the state’s first oceanfront Element by Marriott.
When should clients visit?
The area is one of the USA’s most active turtle nesting areas from March-October, while from September through February visitors can spot a vast array of migrating birds on the Eastern Continental Flyway.
How long should clients stay?
We recommend at least three nights as it takes at least one whole day to visit the Kennedy Space Center alone. The Space Coast can easily be combined with a stay in Orlando, or with a cruise from Port Canaveral.
What tools can agents use?
Our website includes a digital holiday planner with a map; a trip itinerary tool; live surf cameras; and rocket launch information including a schedule, launch viewing areas and the app. There’s also a dedicated page for travel professionals.
