Greater Palm Springs
With a large and vibrant LGBT+ community, Greater Palm Springs promises a warm welcome for all. In the heart of the city, Trixie Motel (from $400 per night; trixiemotel.com) is a pink paradise owned by Brian Firkus – known for his drag persona Trixie Mattel – and his partner David Silver. The Arena district is a focal point for gay establishments, which include Hunters, offering go-go dancers, drag queen bingo and karaoke.
Anytime is a great time to visit, but signature LGBT+ events could help pique your clients’ interest. Cinema Diverse (14-17 September) presents the best in gay, lesbian and transgender cinema; Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend (20-24 September) is the premier lesbian party; and, of course, there’s Pride (3-5 November).

European river cruises
Uniworld offers both LGBT+ and ally travellers a selection of river voyages across Europe. Ibiza
Ibiza is a particular favourite among LGBT+ travellers thanks to the Balearic island’s great nightlife, fantastic Pride celebrations and welcoming communities.
AxelBeach Ibiza is part of hetero-friendly Axel Hotels, an international chain of hotels that are designed for the LGBT+ audience but open to everyone. The group’s mission statement reads: “Everyone is equally welcome without prejudice to their gender identity and expression”.
This Ibiza outpost is a trendy adults-only hotel, with modern decor and spacious apartments. The island’s legendary sunsets are best viewed from the Sky Bar and its outdoor pool deck, plus there’s a restaurant and a spa. The hotel is just 50 metres from the nearest shops, bars and restaurants and 2km from San Antonio centre, one of Ibiza’s main clubbing areas.
