Durham Tees Valley announces seasonal Majorca route

JetsGo Holidays has announced it will operate the route to Palma every Sunday for 10 weeks, starting 19 July 2020, using 189-seat AlbaStar Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

The new flights went on sale on Tuesday (16 July), with JetsGo offering various Majorca packages from £349pp.

The agreement with JetsGo is the first since Stobart Aviation took over operation of Durham Tees Valley in March.

It comes after Balkan Holidays launched a summer charter programme to Bulgaria from Durham Tees Valley in May, which it has already confirmed will return next year.

JetsGo was set up in 2014 and launched with a charter service flying from Manchester to Palma, before expanding to offer departures from Belfast and Inverness.

Director Daniel Reilly said: “Our company’s aim has always been to offer great-value package holidays with a personalised touch.

“All our holidays can be booked with a low £75pp deposit and include family-friendly timed flights, 15kg luggage allowance, accommodation and resort transfers.”

Stobart was named the new operator of Durham Tees Valley after a £40 million scheme to bring the airport back into public ownership was approved by the Tees Valley Combined Authority in January.

Mayor Ben Houchen said the move demonstrated both the airport’s viability and demand for a local departure point.

“When kids break up for their summer holidays, families won’t have the slog to Manchester, Leeds or Newcastle to get a great-value break,” said Houchen.

“While we’re only four months in, this announcement, and the additional holiday flights to Bulgaria, demonstrates our airport can be a success and our 10-year rescue plan is working.”
