Monarch Holidays has increased the amount of hold luggage allowed on its aircraft from 20kgs to 23kgs for package holidaymakers flying to beach destinations from this summer.
The new hold luggage allowance will be applied to all existing bookings for travel after May 1.
Confirmation of the change has been sent directly to agents for those bookings entitled to the new allowance.
Meanwhile, passengers travelling to the UK from Turkey will have their allowance increased by an additional 3kgs to 26kgs on their return flight to allow for the carriage of electronic items that can no longer be carried in the cabin.
The rise in the allowance does not include travellers who have booked city break packages with the operator.
According to a recent survey carried out by Monarch, almost half of respondents said they used their maximum weight allowance when going on holiday.
Gary Anslow, Monarch Holidays’ sales director said: “We are continuously reviewing our product offering and looking at how we can improve the holiday experience for our customers, whether that’s during their flight or when they are at their hotel, villa or apartment.
“We know that increasing our standard luggage allowance from 20kg to 23kg will be well received by our agent partners and their customers, and will sit alongside our permanent £59 deposit as a key reason for customers to choose to take their holiday with Monarch.”
