Azamara Club Cruises has revealed 15 maiden calls for new ship Pursuit’s 2018-19 itineraries, including a Southampton round-trip sailing.
The line announced the addition of Azamara Pursuit – formerly P&O Cruises’ Adonia – last month, taking its fleet to three and increasing its destinations by 40%.
The ship’s decor will be “updated to match the brand’s upmarket position”, similar to the renovations recently introduced on Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest, before it is delivered in March. It will then commence sailing in August.
Maiden calls in the programme are: Agadir, Morocco; Antofagasta, the Chilean Fjords, Laguna San Rafael and San Antonio in Chile; the Beagle Channel (which spans Chile and Argentina); Pisco (San Martin), Salaverry (Trujillo) and Lima (Callao) in Peru; Monemvasia, Samos and Spetses in Greece; Maceio, Brazil; Seyoisfjorour, Iceland; and Fowey, UK.
Azamara said the programme was also full of South America “featured experiences”. Guests sailing the continent will dock in “marquee destinations” such as Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro, while also travelling through channels such as the Fjords of Chile and Ushuaia, Argentina. There will also be “holiday stops” in Rio for New Year’s Eve 2018 and for Carnival in 2019.
Other highlights in South America will include stargazing in the Atacama desert in Chile, a culinary experience in the bohemian Barranco district of Lima in Peru, yoga in the Paracas desert, also in Peru, and a dining experience in one of the “oldest inhabited houses in the Americas”.
European featured experiences include visiting the dormant Thrihnu-kagigur volcano in Iceland; “Cruise Global Stay Local” experiences in the country; and a day tour in Greece.
Richard Twynam, managing director of Azamara Club Cruises UK & Ireland, said: “We are thrilled to announce Azamara Pursuit’s voyages, particularly as its maiden voyage will finish right here in the UK.
“Its second voyage will then be our first ever Southampton round-trip sailing, giving our UK guests the opportunity to enjoy a no-fly cruise to Iceland. This is testament to the support the brand has garnered from the UK market.”
Azamara Pursuit is similar in size to Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest, “allowing guests access to unique ports that larger ships are unable to reach”.
