A total of 9,287,196 foreigners landed in Brazilian territory throughout 2025. Until then, 2024 held the record with 6,773,619 international visitors. This growth consolidates Brazil as an increasingly competitive and desirable destination on the global stage.
The United Kingdom was one of the major highlights of the period, contributing to this milestone for Brazilian tourism. In 2025, Brazilian destinations welcomed 187,396 British tourists, an increase of 21.88% comparing to 2024, when 153,754 tourists from the UK visited Brazil.
The states most visited by British tourists were São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Paraná, Bahia and Ceará, which offer a unique combination of nature, culture, history and authentic experiences to travellers.
In the continental segment, Europe had the best result in the last 10 years in sending tourists to Brazil. There were 19.57% more travellers landing in the country in 2025 compared to the previous year. The most visited destinations by Europeans include São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Paraná, Bahia and Ceará.
“We exceeded all expectations and made 2025 the biggest year in the history of international tourism in Brazil," said Marcelo Freixo, president of Embratur/Visit Brasil. "We showcased our authenticity, our diversity, and the Brazilian soft power that has so captivated the world.
"This result also reflects an innovative strategy that worked very well to expand our connectivity. It was a record-breaking year, which translated into new opportunities for the people, developing entrepreneurs, and generating jobs and income in our country from this economic engine that is tourism."
Brazil also easily surpassed the target set in the National Tourism Plan (PNT) 2024-2027. The expectation for 2025 was to reach 6.9 million international arrivals, a number that was exceeded by 34.6%, reinforcing the effectiveness of public policies, international promotion and coordination with states, municipalities and the private sector.
