Washington, DC unveils autumn line-up of festivals and events

While Washington, D.C. is world-famous for its springtime blossoms, the nation's capital puts on an equally breathtaking show as the air turns crisp

From late September through to early November, the city bursts into a vivid autumn palette, framing a wave of cosy seasonal openings, vibrant grassroots festivals, and glowing café-lined streets, making autumn the ultimate time to wrap up warm and experience DC’s dynamic culture amidst a backdrop of fallen leaves.

Whether sipping a warm cup while wandering through the canopy of Rock Creek Park, taking in the glowing auburn views at the National Mall and Capitol Hill, or getting lost in the golden trails of the US National Arboretum, autumn in the US capital delivers a picture-perfect setting for a shoulder season break.

Only-in-DC Festivals and Experiences
• Theatre Week (24 September – 11 October) Celebrates the local performing arts season with discounted tickets to dozens of plays, musicals, and original productions across DC venues.
• Oktoberfest at The Wharf (3 October) A lively waterfront celebration featuring traditional polka music, stein-hoisting competitions, and the iconic dachshund dash along DC’s scenic Pier.
