Business model

Designer Travel is a multi-award-winning luxury homeworking business with over 190 self-employed Professional Travel Experts across the UK, supported by a Head Office in Lancashire. We offer travel professionals the opportunity to join a supportive, like-minded community. Agents operate under the Designer Travel brand with a personalised website, comprehensive marketing, and benefit from industry-leading support and a flexible model designed to grow their business their way and retain full ownership of their customer database.

Costs 

Our homeworking package is simple and flexible, with a range of joining options to suit different experience levels, including a Training Academy for those new to travel and Return to Travel pathways. You’ll receive a digital and stationery starter pack to help you get set up, with laptop options available if required. You’ll need wireless broadband and a landline or mobile with an appropriate call package. There is a £50 monthly support charge covering licence and administration costs, with 40% contribution towards banking charges.

Commission structure

Designer Travel offers generous, upfront commissions across three tiers. All experts start at 60% commission, with the opportunity to progress to 70% and 80% based on annual profitability. We pay a proportion of commission the month after the booking is made, irrespective of departure date, with the balance paid twice yearly once travel has been completed. This approach helps provide financial stability and protection against cancellations.

Designer Travel is a multi-award-winning, luxury, independent, customer-focused travel business offering a wide range of Atol- and Abta-protected holidays. We work with over 400 suppliers and also have the ability to dynamically package, giving our Professional Travel Experts access to exceptional products, competitive pricing, and the flexibility to create truly bespoke travel experiences for their customers.

Training and support

Our induction is delivered on a one-to-one basis, starting with a full-day introduction and tailored ongoing training to suit individual needs. Starting as a homeworker needn’t be lonely, we have regular UK meet-ups, an annual overseas conference, Christmas events and a Summer Festival, which create plenty of opportunities to come together to learn and celebrate success. With over 30 Head Office support staff and a 1:5 support ratio, our PTEs benefit from industry-leading support, including bespoke business planning, weekly training webinars and ongoing marketing and social media support.

Sustainability & DEI

At Designer Travel, we’re taking sustainability seriously. As one of the UK’s leading travel homeworking businesses, we are committed to protecting our planet through real action and partnerships that prioritise visible, measurable sustainability. Our Little Steps, Big Impact initiative is an in-house working group focused on raising awareness and sharing practical sustainability tips with customers and colleagues. Agents also have the option to complete a six-week training course to further develop their knowledge and support more responsible travel choices.

Technology

Designer Travel experts use a range of integrated technology platforms to support their business. In addition to supplier booking systems, we use iSell for customer files, payments and documentation. Our experts also benefit from our own website with a personalised website page and CRM dashboard, with further enhancements in development, alongside a bespoke quote system for sending professional customer quotes. Our in-house intranet provides everything needed day to day, including marketing materials, social media assets and additional business support tools.
