Meryem joins the Grenada Tourism Authority following a two-year tenure as Director of UK, Ireland and the Nordics for the Moroccan National Tourism Office (MNTO), developing destination sales strategies, managing travel trade partnerships, and leading B2B sales and marketing initiatives across key source markets.
Following a two-week island immersion - where she familiarised herself with Grenada’s hotels, attractions and visitor experiences, alongside meetings with key local stakeholders and tourism partners - Meryem has now returned to the UK to execute her role.
“Meryem’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique in the UK market”, said Stacey Liburd, CEO of Grenada Tourism Authority. “Her track record of growing visitor numbers and strengthening trade and airline partnerships speak for itself, and her experience will be invaluable as we build on the momentum we’ve already created here. We are delighted to welcome her to the team and look forward to the energy and experience she brings to our next stage of growth in the UK.”
Prior to MNTO, Meryem managed the Travel Trade segment for a luxury hotel cluster in London, cultivating relationships with travel advisors, wholesalers and key industry stakeholders. This combination of destination marketing and hospitality sales experience brings a depth of trade knowledge and a strong network to her new role representing Grenada in the UK.
“I’m thrilled to be a member of the Grenada Tourism Authority team at such an exciting time for the destination,” said Meryem Bennouna, Director of Sales UK. “Grenada has so much to offer the UK market, and I can’t to continue to, build on the relationships already in place and help even more travellers discover the island, and its sister islands Carriacou and Petite Martinique.”
Meryem’s appointment builds on a strong start to 2026 in the UK market, where UK arrivals to Grenada are up 14.27% YOY for Q2 2026, compared to 2025, and market share has grown by 17%.
