Samoa’s flagship cultural celebration returns from 30 August to 5 September 2026, inviting European travellers to experience the colour, creativity and traditions of one of the Pacific’s vibrant cultural festivals.

Following a 35-year legacy as the Teuila Festival, the 2026 celebration will take place under the name Measina Festival, reflecting Samoa’s commitment to showcasing and preserving its arts, culture and traditions. Under the theme “Celebrations of Arts and Culture”, the event will bring together communities, artists and visitors to celebrate fa’a Samoa – the Samoan way of life.

Taking place in Apia, the festival now features cultural performances, traditional dance and music, local cuisine, arts and crafts, sporting activities and family entertainment. Highlights include traditional sports, long boat and paopao races, family activities and Samoa’s kilikiti cricket competition. Each evening, cultural and variety shows will take place in front of Samoa’s government building.

Youth participation will be a key focus, with the Ministry of Education and Culture hosting the “Samoa Ne’i galo lau Aganu’u” competition – meaning “Lest We Forget our Culture and Traditions”. Students from colleges and high schools will be invited to explore and celebrate their heritage.

The Samoa Tourism Authority will support youth engagement through cultural entertainment competitions, culminating in the Miss Samoa Pageant, celebrating Samoan identity, talent and cultural pride.
