Black Book: the UK’s new must-attend luxury travel trade show
TTG Media's head of luxury April Hutchinson sets out why the long-established media and events business is launching the event in London.
Q. What is Black Book and where does it sit in the UK luxury travel landscape?
A. Black Book, Where Luxury Travel Meets, is a new UK luxury travel trade show combining curated one-to-one meetings, agent-led conference content, and structured networking. Designed for 250 delegates at London’s Business Design Centre, it offers a “turnkey” exhibitor experience and hosted travel advisor attendance, making meetings highly efficient, targeted, and relationship-led.
Q. What gap is it filling – and how did you decide on the launch of Black Book?
A. It responds to a need for truly curated, UK-focused luxury trade events. Built on 20 years of TTG Luxury expertise and independent research among advisors and suppliers, Black Book was shaped by demand for vetted, high-quality relationships. Advisors want time-smart access to a ‘Black Book’ of contacts that can shape clients’ travel and help them stand out, and suppliers need better access to verified, serious luxury sellers in a fragmented advisor landscape.
Q. How will the event actually work for attendees?
A. Black Book will welcome around 150 vetted advisors coming to meet with more than 100 luxury brands across 15-minute, pre-scheduled appointments over two days (21 and 22 October), in private booths on the show floor. The event also includes networking breakfasts, on-site lunches, and a closing drinks reception, with structured flow and built-in social touchpoints.
Q. How do you ensure meetings are relevant and meaningful?
A. We are using a sophisticated AI-driven scheduling platform that will suggest matches among advisors and suppliers, who will also be able to request preferences based on detailed profiles themselves, hence helping towards a good business fit and shared goals. Participants can review profiles in advance and even connect beforehand via the platform, ensuring meetings start warmer, and focus on value in the meeting rather than background introductions. Of course you can use the meeting however you wish though!
Q. What’s the role of the conference programme?
A. We have discovered over the years that travel advisors really value content that helps grow and finesse their business; something many of them often don’t have time for. So, each morning features an hour of agent-focused content across three themed stages, offering 12 sessions over two days. Topics focus on business growth, market insight, trends, and practical tools, hence complementing the product-led meetings with strategic, career-enhancing learning.
Q. Who attends – when it comes to both suppliers and buyers?
A. Suppliers range from luxury hotels and groups; to ultra-luxury, premium, river and expedition cruise lines; DMCs and place experts; to transport providers and tour operators; and interesting tourist offices – all targeting the UK’s high-value outbound market. Buyers are experienced luxury travel advisors, typically with at least two years’ experience and verified sales credentials to ensure quality and credibility. All advisors also have to provide references so we can be sure we are bringing the very best people to the show to build their relationships in luxury travel.
Q. Why London, and what’s the longer-term vision?
A. Our research showed London was the UK favourite for something of this nature. And why the UK? Well, the affluent consumer here is one of the world’s most advanced when it comes to taste and appetite for travel, so for any brand wishing to capitalise on this desire, Black Book represents an amazing opportunity to connect with this demographic, and the luxury travel advisors who steer their travel plans. Those who wish to grow their brand/destination awareness in the UK market (one with an outbound travel value of US$98.2 billion, according to Future Market Insights) and understand what the opportunities are will therefore find Black Book serves them well. We picked the Business Design Centre for its purpose-built exhibition format, heritage, sustainability credentials, and central London connectivity. Looking ahead, Black Book aims to become the UK’s key must-attend luxury travel trade show and to create a year-round industry community, supported by content, networking and initiatives such as the integrated Top 20 Luxury Travel Agencies awards.
Q. What else do we need to know about Top 20?
A. After launching the Top 20 Luxury Travel Agencies awards programme in 2025, we are now integrating it into our Black Book plans. This means that as well as a two-day luxury trade show, we will host a gala event built around this meaningful recognition programme. Over 10 categories, we comb carefully over submissions and finalists also undergo video judging interviews, so we really get into granular detail to make sure we award the best across the agent community. On 21 October, we will reveal the Top 20 agencies during a dazzling evening of celebration at Sheraton Grand London Park Lane. We also crown the UK & Ireland’s No1 Luxury Travel Agency, a real accolade for any business. All Black Book exhibitors are invited, with a complimentary ticket to attend and further mingle with agents and the wider luxury community.
