Deb Leavy joined NJT four years ago and has been a Business Consultant, a role widely known in the industry as Business Development Manager, since November 2022.
She started out supporting Platinum consultants before moving to the Academy, which develops consultants, most of them new to travel. She brings 25 years' experience in travel, including two and a half years at Travel Counsellors and 16 years at Thomas Cook.
Much of her work has focused on consultants who lack confidence in their early months, and Leavy has turned many consultants new to travel into high achievers who are beating their own sales targets.
As University Manager, Deb Leavy will oversee the Business Consultants within the NJT University team, ensuring they are fully supported. She will also support consultants at Platinum 4* and Diamond level through dedicated calls, alongside Dave Pope, Head of Sales.
Her priorities include new training programmes to accelerate consultants' growth, particularly those moving from part-time to full-time, and helping each consultant build a clear plan for their business.
"A lot of consultants start out doubting themselves, and I've seen how quickly that changes with the right support," said Deb Leavy. "Having worked with consultants at every level, I know what they need at each stage. I want the University team to feel like a seamless extension of their business."
Steve Witt, co-founder of Not Just Travel, said: "We keep putting value back into our consultants' businesses, and investing in our own talent is a big part of that. Deb has spent four years working one-to-one with consultants, and that experience will now shape how the University team supports the whole network. We want Not Just Travel consultants to be the most successful in the industry, and that depends on the quality of the support behind them."
