The beach made famous by the Leonardo DiCaprio movie The Beach will be temporarily closed from this month.
Authorities in Thailand have ordered the measure on Maya Bay, on the island of Koh Phi Phi Leh, to halt environmental damage caused by too many tourists visiting the location.
The area will be closed to all visitors from today (June 1) until September 30.
Thailand’s department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation issued a notice saying it realised "the deterioration of the ecosystem in the area of Maya Bay".
