Montcalm Royal London House has joined Marriott International's Autograph Collection Hotels, marking a new chapter for the landmark Finsbury Square hotel, housed in the former headquarters of Royal Mail.

Newly refurbished rooms and public spaces are complemented by creative guest experiences inspired by the building's history as a centre of communication. A replica Royal Mail post box, hand-drawn postcards, art, sleep poems and literary events bring the hotel's defining concept, the Art of Expression, to life. The hotel retains its individual character and London identity, while connecting with Marriott Bonvoy members worldwide.

All 253 guest rooms and suites have been thoughtfully refurbished, with calming neutrals complemented by richer accents in cushions, artwork and feature walls. New Terrace Suites offer a private terrace with uninterrupted skyline views. Rooms feature books on postal history and letter writing, alongside poetry from classic British and contemporary voices.

Studio Culture A has curated over 900 artworks by 30 artists throughout public spaces, celebrating the art of correspondence. Reception hosts a rotating gallery with Rise Art, alongside a handwritten letter project by Camille Rousseau incorporating pieces from the Montcalm team.

Two distinctive post boxes bring the concept to life: a replica green Royal Mail box on loan from the Postal Museum, and a red box, inviting guests to send a handwritten message.

A programme of literary events, including calligraphy workshops with London Writers' Salon, begins October 2026, alongside seasonal Rise Art exhibitions and sleep poems with Goldsmiths, University of London.

Jonathan Mills, Head of Hotels at Montcalm Collection, said the concept "invites guests to become part of the story."

Sandra Schulze-Potgieter of Marriott International said the heritage "can't be manufactured."

Guests can also enjoy YĀTRĀ Signature Spa, Aviary Rooftop Restaurant & Bar, and event spaces for up to 240 guests. The hotel holds Green Key certification since 2024, working towards EarthCheck and B Corp status.
