The Association of Women Travel Executives (AWTE) successfully hosted its first “She Shines Reset Day” on 17 March 2026 at Shoreditch Treehouse, bringing together 60 women from across the travel industry for a unique day focused on personal development, wellbeing and authentic connection.
Hosted in association with Visit Malta, the invitation-only event shifted the focus away from traditional networking to create a supportive space for open conversation, storytelling and self-reflection.
The day featured a series of inspiring speakers and panellists who shared candid insights and lived experiences, encouraging honest dialogue and fostering a strong sense of community among participants. Attendees engaged in discussions exploring topics such as resilience, boundaries, and embracing authenticity as well as practical skills around career changes and personal finances. Hosted by key members of the AWTE Board, external speakers and panellists included:
• Saira Khan, Head of Innovation & Partnerships at First Direct
• Rachel O'Reilly, Director of Communications at DERTOUR UK
• Anna Wheeldon, HR Consultant & Director HarestoneHR
• Helen Roberts, Leadership Coach
• Mafalda Teixeira, COO AC Group
• Lindsey Thorpe, Marketing Promotions Manager Visit Malta
“‘She Shines Reset Day’ was created to give women the space to pause, reflect and truly reconnect - with themselves, their goals and their community” said Michelle Leverick, Chair of AWTE. “Whether it was a moment of inspiration, a powerful conversation, or simply the chance to breathe, we hope everyone left feeling recharged, supported, and reminded of the strength we have when we come together.”
AWTE continues to champion the advancement and wellbeing of women in the travel industry through initiatives like She Shines, which prioritise confidence, connection and personal growth alongside professional development.
Following the success of the Reset Day, AWTE plans to build on this momentum with further events and programmes aimed at supporting its growing community.
