The eighth Harry Potter story, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, has returned to London’s West End.

 

Taking place at The Palace Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue, the two-part show is set 19 years after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It follows the legendary wizard’s son, Albus, as he embarks on his own journey at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, navigating being sorted into the notorious house of Slytherin, incessant bullying and an unlikely friendship with Scorpius Malfoy, Draco’s son.

 

While Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a continuation of JK Rowling’s books, it also works as a standalone story, so those who haven’t read the series can still enjoy the experience.

Visitors, who must be over 10 years old, can expect to enjoy electrifying duels, mystifying spells and time travel brought to life by state-of-the-art technology. It’s a show crafted by more than 80 masterminds across the stage and behind the scenes, and is hugely popular with families, couples and groups.

 

SELLING TIPS

When selling Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to individuals or larger groups, it’s important to note that the two parts of the show must be purchased for your clients at the same time. Recommend they arrive at least one hour before the curtains open, as there’s a security system in place and latecomers will be denied entry. Plus, if they’re keen to get their hands on some show merchandise tell them it can be purchased ahead of time.

While most visitors who book via the trade opt for seats in the Stalls and Dress Circle, Grand Circle and Balcony tickets are also available. Stalls and Dress Circle ticket prices typically range from £65-£80 per person, per part, when booked via Harry Potter and the Cursed Child travel partners, with performances taking place on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The first part lasts two hours and 40 minutes while the second is slightly shorter at two hours and 35 minutes.

 

Travel agents must purchase Part One and Part Two at the same time, with both parts shown consecutively on the same day. Theatregoers are given a break of two hours and 20 minutes in between parts, which is the perfect time to grab a bite to eat. There are plenty of places to suggest nearby, including Sophie’s Steakhouse, Bill’s, The Ivy Brasserie and La Bodega Negra, with Gaulthier being a top choice for vegetarians.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child offers support for those with limited mobility and hearing and visual impairments, as well as autism-friendly performances, so the show can be enjoyed by all. Even customers travelling overseas can enjoy Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, with shows running in New York, San Francisco, Toronto and Melbourne.
