The cruise giant said on Thursday (7 December) it had achieved a 38% reduction against a 2019 baseline less than a year after launching its sustainability report.
“It’s a virtuous cycle from start to finish that reduces our environmental footprint while ensuring the extraordinary guest experiences that make our world-class cruise lines stand out,” said chief maritime officer Bill Burke.
To enhance its sustainable dining practices, Carnival has invested heavily in food management technology such as biodigesters, which organically break down 80% of uneaten food, as well as awareness campaigns for passengers and crews alike.
