Essex Police said on Thursday evening (12 October) officers established there was “nothing of concern” onboard the Kenya Airways flights from Nairobi and that the plane was given the green light to resume operations.
Stansted continued to operate as normal throughout the whole investigation, Essex Police added.
Police officers were called to the scene earlier that afternoon as Kenya Airways flight KQ100 to Heathrow was forced to divert to Stansted after receiving a security alert from the UK about a potential threat onboard.
“The crew onboard were briefed and all safety and security precautions were taken to ensure the safety and security of our crew and passengers onboard,” the airline said in a statement.

“We sincerely regret any inconvenience to our passengers and crew and would like to thank them for their patience.”
Kenya Airways has also added that it will give passengers “any necessary counselling support” to help them process the incident.
