Halsbury Travel Group has completed a deal to acquire Scottish school tour operator of nearly 40 years, IBT Travel, for an undisclosed sum.
Prestwick based IBT was founded in 1986, providing ski and educational trips to English and Scottish schools. The deal is Halsbury’s first acquisition since it was bought by capital market firm Literacy Capital in June 2022.
Group chief executive Robin Parry said it would help Halsbury “grow and flourish” by expanding its product offering and reach, as well as allowing it to enhance processes, systems and commercial practices.
“IBT is very complementary to Halsbury Travel and I am delighted that it is now part of the group, enabling us to collectively grow and flourish,” Parry added. “This is an exciting new chapter for Halsbury Travel Group.”
Commenting on the acquisition, IBT founder Iain Black said: “I believe Halsbury is the right home for IBT and I know that it will continue to thrive under its new ownership.”
