The Intrepid Foundation has announced its support for the Australian Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal to provide emergency relief for communities affected by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine with an upfront donation of AUS $50,000.
Red Cross teams are stationed on the ground in Ukraine and neighboring countries to provide first aid, medicine, equipment, food, water, shelter and essential items and repair vital infrastructure.
Individuals and travel companies that are in a position to do so have been urged by the foundation to donate to the cause here: theintrepidfoundation.org/t/ukraine-crisis-appeal
All of Intrepid’s administrative costs are covered by the company to ensure 100% of donations go directly to the appeal.
A spokesperson for The Intrepid Foundation described the growing conflict in Ukraine as an "urgent humanitarian crisis".
"At least 1,000,000 people have been forced to flee from their homes and these numbers are expected to grow significantly in coming days and weeks," they added.
"Many people who remain in Ukraine do not have access to water or electricity and are seeking emergency shelter."
Intrepid Travel has cancelled all trips in Ukraine and Russia for the "foreseeable future" as the company focuses on supporting people on the ground.
