The airline and operator said control over ramp operations would deliver a better end-to-end experience for customers during what is set to be the group’s biggest and busiest summer ever.
Operations at Jet2’s Bristol base enter their third summer this year, with the package giant offering an expanded programme featuring 32 sun and city destinations – up 13% on 2022.
At Newcastle, Jet2 will operate to 36 sun and city destinations, including – for the first time – Italy’s Verona.
Both bases will now have a dedicated ramp-handling team, including ramp agents and baggage loaders. It means Jet2 will self-handle at seven of its 10 UK bases.
Steve Heapy, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays chief executive, said: “Today’s announcement represents a significant investment in our operation and we know it will deliver an even better end-to-end experience for our customers at both bases. We are looking forward to operating our biggest ever summer programme this year."
