New travel data from Expedia Group has revealed the Spanish island of Mallorca is the most popular destination for Brits looking to travel this summer.
According to the group, despite disruption at UK airports in recent months, demand for overseas destinations has been high.
Analysis of holiday searches between January and May for travel dates in July and August revealed a 65% increase on the overall number of searches from UK travellers compared to the same period last year.
Searches from UK travellers for overseas destinations have almost trebled (+190%) compared to the same period last year.
Mallorca, which has seen a 255% increase in UK travellers looking to visit its beaches, mountains and villages, leads a list of popular beach destinations, including Santorini, the Algarve and Ibiza.
Irene Roberts, director of UK market management for Expedia Group, said: "The pent-up demand for foreign travel is being released after two years of uncertainty, with UK travellers searching in their droves for overseas city breaks and seaside holidays in hotels, vacation rental properties or on cruises.
"For the UK travel industry, while some areas may see a dip in domestic tourists, search patterns on our platforms suggest that we will see a resurgence of overseas tourists visiting our shores again, which is hugely welcome."
