The new itineraries feature calls at Hachinohe, Shimizu, Muroran, Sakaiminato in Japan, as well as various ports across the US-owned Aleutian Islands.
New for 2023, the 12-day Cultural Wonders of Japan itinerary will visit South Korea, as well as Japan’s top cultural sights including the ancient Aomori archaeological site and the streets of Sakaiminato, which inspired legendary manga artist, Shigeru Mizuki.
The expanded programme also includes a 21-day Japan and Aleutian Islands voyage giving passengers the chance to visit the little-explored Aleutian Islands, part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, while a new 12-day Iconic Japan cruise sails from South Korea to Japan stopping at key spots such as Shingu, Shimizu and Tokyo before heading to the remote island of Hokkaido.
Fresh shore excursions added to the cruise itineraries include Shinto ceremonies and Sake tastings to get a feel for local culture, while guests can also explore using the ship’s submarine and two helicopters. Destination-specific dining includes sushi in the onboard restaurant Sushi @ Kokos and north Asian fusion food at Night Market with Sake available in the onboard Sake bar.
Scenic Eclipse carries up to 228 guests with a 15-member onboard Discovery Team featuring scientists, historians, ornithologists and archaeologists to educate guests on Japan’s history, fauna, wildlife and traditions.
Flights, transfers, fine dining experiences, premium branded beverages and excursions are all included in the cruise price.
