Stansted gains first of several new budget Turkey flights

Stansted has gained a new route to Turkey’s Aegean coast, with three more poised to take off next summer.

SunExpress will operate the route using Boeing 737 aircraft

SunExpress’s Stansted-Izmir route took off this week, which it will operate three-times-weekly this winter before increasing it to five-times-weekly for summer 2024.

The carrier, a joint venture between Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, will also launch flights to Antalya, Adana and Gaziantep next summer.

Simon Gorrighan, Stansted’s aviation director, said: "The Turkish market is already one of Stansted’s most popular destinations, with more than 70 weekly flights to the region.
