Bishop will bring more than 10 years’ industry experience with Riviera Travel and Sandals to her role with Blue Bay, which will keep her in the industry while she seeks to change career. Blue Bay said Bishop’s decision, which sees her leave Sandals after four-and-a-half years, underlined growing demand from travel professionals for greater flexibility.
"I wanted to make the change to have more flexibility and set-up my new dog walking business, Tam’s Best Friend," said Bishop. "However, travel is my one true love and the PTC deal available with Blue Bay is very competitive. I know them so well, so I knew it would be a great place to start my new journey.
Bishop, who joined Sandals and Beaches Resorts UK sales and marketing arm Unique Caribbean Holidays Ltd in February 2019 from Riviera Travel where she was sales development manager, added she was "looking forward to being able to sell the whole world again, and not just select destinations".
Abbie Heaton, sales manager for The Personal Travel Consultants (PTCs) in Partnership with Blue Bay Travel, said Bishop had built close ties with the mid- and long-haul specialist, which counts Sandals’ Caribbean heartland among its top destinations. "With her experience and passion, we are sure that this new venture will be a resounding success," added Heaton.
Blue Bay chief executive Alistair Rowland said: "“Having Tamzin join us is big news for the industry and shows how there has been a shift towards agents wanting more flexibility to find a work-life balance. PTCs has continued to go from strength to strength, with 40 consultants now part of the division. We are certain that Tamzin will have a great start with us."
