Riley, who joined Virgin Voyages from Carnival UK in February 2018, becomes vice-president of UK and international sales.

The line said he had been recognised for leading its expansions and development in British and Australian markets.

John Diorio has also been promoted, being named the line’s vice-president of sales for North America.

Virgin Voyages said Riley and Diorio had been “champions for the brand” and “crucial leaders” within the regions they covered.

The line is set to launch two new ships this year with Valiant Lady arriving in March and sailing from Portsmouth and Resilient Lady set to debut in August and cruise from Athens.

“Over the past several years, Shane and John have demonstrated the ability to produce strategic partnerships and achieve tremendous growth for the company,” said Diana Block Garcia, senior vice-president of revenue, sales and itinerary. 

“With an unparalleled approach to sales, both Shane and John have been fundamental members of Virgin Voyages’ sales teams yielding the success of the brand. We’re thrilled to announce their promotions to vice-president.”
