Wizz Air has taken all flights from Kyiv, Lviv and St Petersburg off sale in response to the outbreak of war in Ukraine following Russia’s invasion of the country.

It comes after the airline's current group chief financial officer Jourik Hooghe decided to step down to pursue ‘other opportunities’

Flights from its Moldovan base have been shifted to Iasi in Romania until 31 May.

The airline has also suspended inbound flying to these and other destinations in Ukraine and Russia, with flights inbound to Moldova shifted to Iasi until 31 May.

In a statement released on Monday (7 March), a spokesperson said: "All of our Ukrainian organisation is supported by an employee and family support scheme and all will be offered new employment within one of our bases.

"We are also offering new jobs with relocation support for Ukrainians who wish to join us."

The company said it continues to await a "safe evacuation window" for its four Ukraine based aircraft.
