Michael Edwards, managing director of sister company Explore Worldwide, will take on the managing director brief at Inntravel, while Susan Avison has been promoted to the role of general manager.
Edwards joined Explore in 2021 following a six-year stint with Intrepid Travel, first as regional director UK and EMEA and latterly as chief growth officer. He is also a previous EMEA managing director of G Adventures.
He will continue to serve as Explore managing director. Avison, meanwhile, has been with Yorkshire-based Inntravel for nearly 30 years, and will head up its senior leadership team in her new role.
“I am incredibly excited to be leading Inntravel, a company that I’ve long admired, while retaining the role of MD at Explore," said Edwards. "Inntravel pioneered self-guided walking holidays and has built a loyal customer base who are passionate about this type of travel.
"Looking ahead, we will protect our heritage and use our recently acquired B Corp status to connect us with other likeminded businesses, as we seek to use travel as a force for good.”
Avison added: “Having been part of the Inntravel family for so many years, I am thrilled to be leading the senior management team, helping to steer the ship with its staff of 100."
