Lundgren joined easyJet as Chief Executive in 2017 after more than a decade with Tui, first in Sweden and then in the UK.

He will take over from Dieter Zetsche as Chair of Tui's supervisory board in February.

Lundgren, who joined Tui's supervisory board last year, was voted in unanimously as Zetsche's successor.

Zetsche has served as Chair since May 2019 and has opted not to stand for re-election to the board at the end of his current term.

Tui described Lundgren as a "highly experienced tourism and aviation executive". "Most recently, he served as Chief Executive of easyJet plc from 2017 until the end of 2024.

"Prior to this move, Johan Lundgren was a member of the executive board and Deputy CEO of Tui Travel plc (UK) and held the same position at Tui AG from 2014 to 2015.

"He had concluded his role with the Tui Group in the summer of 2015 following the successful merger between Tui AG and Tui Travel plc."

Lundgren's career in travel stretches back to the mid-1980s when he took up tour guiding in Sweden with Fritidsresor, which later became part of Tui.
