Nats chief given a week to explain latest UK air traffic control meltdown

The boss of the UK's air traffic control provider has been given a week to explain the country's latest ATC meltdown – the third in as many years – after thousands of flights were disrupted when the system fell over on Tuesday afternoon (8 September).

Nats has been given a week to explain what went wrong on Tuesday

Martin Rolfe, Chief Executive of UK ATC provider Nats, was summoned to meet Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander on Wednesday (9 September) as the number of flights cancelled owing to a "technical issue" at the UK's ATC provider this week passed 2,000.
