Riviera Travel has claimed strong early demand for its solo-exclusive river cruise programme, with the trade accounting for nearly three-quarters of bookings made so far for its dedicated solos ship George Eliot.

The operator said 72% of the ship’s 2027 solo capacity has already been sold through the trade, while one of the first June 2027 departures has sold out more than a year ahead of launch.

George Eliot is set to become the world’s first fully solo-exclusive river cruise ship when it enters service in mid-2027. The ship will operate a full season of solo-only sailings across the Rhine, Moselle and Danube, including shoulder-season departures that Riviera believes offer agents additional opportunities in a "growing sector".
