From 1 June, Air China will begin operating daily to Beijing Capital airport. China Southern will then launch three flights a week to the commercial centre of Guangzhou on 20 June.

The new flights take Gatwick’s number of weekly services to China to 26, alongside existing flights to Shanghai from China Eastern and Air China and Zhengzhou from China Southern.

Stephanie Wear, Gatwick’s vice president aviation development, said: “Having welcomed both Air China and China Southern to the airport last year, the additional routes highlight the carriers’ commitment to growth at London Gatwick.
