British Airways and Air Mauritius departures to the island from Gatwick are operating as scheduled following the closure. The airport reopened following an updated bulletin from the Mauritius Meteorological Services.

“Intending passengers are strongly advised to contact their respective airlines for further information on the status of their flights and not to proceed to the airport, unless receiving confirmation of the revised departure time.”

It added only departing passengers would be admitted to check-in areas. Mauritius Meteorological Services has also relaxed its cyclone warning.
 
“Cloud bands associated with Eleanor will continue to influence weather over Mauritius with intermittent rain, moderate at times with risks of isolated thunderstorms. Patchy fog is expected over the high grounds tonight and tomorrow morning.
 
“Sea will remain high with swells beyond the reefs and with wave heights of six to eight metres. It is strictly advised not to go at sea and to avoid venturing along beaches.”
